8th Symposium on Bioengineering

08/04/2017 - 09/04/2017

8th Symposyum on Bioengineering

The fusion of engineering methods and life sciences has emerged as the ultimate ground-breaking science/technology field, refreshing projects are constant and it is quite easy to become out of date. The Symposium on Bioengineering might then be just the right event to show you what’s new: 8th and 9th April, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, quality researchers and an appealing price – keep that in mind!

The Symposium on Bioengineering is an event whose main purpose is the most traditional, yet the most innovative goal: to present to a community of students and researchers the most recent and innovative projects with biomedical and biological applications on issues of our modern society. Now in its 8th edition, the event will come to life under the slogan “Solving Tomorrow, Today”, a mission that the organisation intends to accomplish once again this year. In keeping with the success of the previous editions, both national and international speakers of exceptional quality, not only from the Academia but also from the Entrepreneurial world, will be present at this Symposium. Communication and knowledge sharing among students, academics, industry and start-ups in an event which comprises Biological/Biomedical Engineering and Molecular Biotechnology is encouraged.

A few top-notch speakers have already been disclosed, including:

  • Marco Capogrosso (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) working on designing a spinal neuroprosthesis
  • Garabed Antranikian (Technische Universität Hamburg) to talk about the use of extremophiles for a sustainable biobased industry
  • Pedro Baptista (Instituto Aragonés de Ciencias de la Salud) and his work on liver organoids.
